With being gone for most of January, it wasn’t very hard to fail our one-photo-a-month goal. BUT!! Upon returning we stepped outdoors and captured some candids of each other.
You’ve already seen the amazingness that Jeremy captured. What you didn’t see was the one I captured of him.

Such a stud. :)
And of course you remember the photographic skills of my niece, right?
Yes well…here they are again just for kicks…and our February portrait.

And stay tuned…because March? Those ones should be spectacular!

I received a disgruntled text from Jeremy while at my day job asking where “the big camera” was. After telling him it was with me, I didn’t receive a response back so I just went back to finishing up. Dragging myself into our humble abode after a long days work, I arrive to an eager future husband wanting to show me the pictures he took on our P&S. And so you all know, “they totally would have been better if someone wouldn’t have taken their camera with them…”
Well then.
I…however…totally disagree that these could have been better. I think they’re perfect.

And my personal favorite…

Give my man some credit, right? Which one is your favorite??

While I’m finishing up editing a GORGEOUS engagement session, I thought it a good time to let you all in on a secret.
I’m marrying into a brotherhood. One that can only derive from the True North.
That’s right…I’m talking about Canadian hockey. It’s sport enough to make a grown man jump around the house ala Ralphie after getting his Red Ryder BB Gun for Christmas. And emotional enough to see a sweet gentleman of a man go from this…

to this…

Notice the frightened look on Peaches’ face behind him? Yeah…it was like that for all of us.
So, as a future wife of a former Canuck, I don the True North colors for all things hockey. Call me a traitor – I call it keeping myself from sleeping with the coyotes out back in the brush.

When scheduling her session over the phone, her Mother spoke of her passion for all things cinematic. Directorship. Which is totally not a word…but I’m rolling with it.
I also found that Allie would be attending K-State, my alma mater. So, naturally, I looooved her!!
Allie was down (or up) for anything. Charismatic and incredibly photogenic, she embraced the art of photography and really just let me do my thang. Which was totally awesome. And she brought along some really awesome props. Like her Director’s chair. And her pups: Rocky and Mickey. And her friends…and her friends’ galoshes.
And it was all totally rad.

Allie, God bless you my love. I pray for nothing but blessings upon blessings raining on your heart as you venture into your next big journey!!

I experience it everytime I cuddle my pup, schmooze my kittens, love on my favorite little ones, laugh with my friends, hug my heart and find the perfect spot to lie on the shoulder of my husband-to-be.
Joy.
Yesterday was yet another fulfilled moment of joy. Spending hours upon hours outdoors in the greatness of Kansas and the city limits of Missouri, capturing love and joy in the sweet midwestern sun. Driving home at the end of my evening, with the sun hanging low and the day beginning to go gray, it dawned on me…
…this is what I was born to do. Windows down, music up (probably BEP because I’ve loved them like woah for like…eons), camera to my right and an open road to take me home…it’s joy. And it can always be found if you just allow yourself to know it exists in everything the Lord has touched.
I can’t wait to share with you the amazingly fun senior session and engagement session I had yesterday. Stay tuned later this week for the full blog post on both!

She wabwabwabwabwababababababababblgblgblg’s now.
She sports two perfect bottom teeth when she smiles big.
She doesn’t throw up in my hair anymore.
Kendall is nine months old and I CAN’T BELIEVE IT!!
When I started first year packages, I thought that the best thing out of this was giving parents the opportunity to look back on the first year of their baby’s life and see their beauty as it’s grown. I still believe that with all my heart. I never would have thought, though, that I would be affected emotionally by the relationship I have built with these little ones. They know me now. They smile when I walk in the door. They hug me and pull my nose and lick me and love me as if to say “Hey friend.” And it stirs in my core this sweet pot of yummy love that I have for children.
And then my mommy-clock goes whacko.
Oh Ms. Kendall I do adore you so. In three more months we’ll be celebrating the first year of your life – I can’t wait to be a part of it all!

I should note about this last photo. I’m normally not in photos with families. Yet here I am in all my footsy glory, with Ms. Kendall. She climbed up to get to me…the shot wasn’t intentional…but it’s my most loved simply because it reminds me of the relationship I know she and I will have forever.

It’s approaching. Quickly. Spring. Yum.
And with it…the cleaning shall commence. Our house isn’t a hog trough by any means…it’s clean in the well…clean sense. But it’s not clean in the organized sense. Does that make…sense?
For the past couple of years it’s been my mission to live a clean life. A simpler life. A not-so-inundated-by-stuff life. There’s something to be said for feeling more at home when it’s uncluttered…so far we’ve tackled the master closet, dining room and both the foyer and garage entrance – they now feel like home. As for the rest of the house – we’re almost there. I can feel it. In the air. Like a Phil Collins song. With Spring fast approaching the ants in my pants are making me itch for the serenity of walking into my front door and walking into our home. We’ve been here a year – it’s time to move beyond moving in and residing here. I’m so grateful to Jeremy for being the guy with the hammer and the nails – I’ve never been able to level pictures well. I’m sure he’s grateful to me for the design of this place – I can do a mean number on a JoCo beige house to make it unique and scream “We’re not from around these parts!”
I don’t know that the neighbors enjoy that last feeling as much as we do.
Here’s to a wonderful first week of March, folks! I lift my coffee to you and yours and pray for a month of fantastic-ness for all!
And so you know that I haven’t been MIA entirely…the footsies of a young one who’s been growing up so quickly before my very own eyes – Ms. Kendall Ann. Stay tuned for the full post!
